Program Admission

No prerequisites are needed other than a baccalaureate degree. Official admission into the program is contingent upon meeting the requirements for EDUC 499.

• EDUC 216 - Reading Methods I (Lec. 3, Cr. 3)
• EDUC 324 - Methods of Teaching Science in Elementary and Middle School (Lec. 3, Cr. 3)
• EDUC 330 - Methods of Teaching in the Middle School (Grades 5-8) (Lec. 3, Cr. 3)
• EDUC 333 - Methods and Materials in Reading for Secondary Teachers (Lec. 3, Cr. 3)
• EDUC 351 - Educational Measurements (Lec. 3, Cr. 3)
• EDUC 412 - Secondary Classroom Management and Field Experience (Lec. 2, Lab. 2, Cr. 3)
• EDUC 499 - Entrance into the Non-Master’s Alternative Program
• PSYC 261 - Adolescent Psychology (Lec. 3, Cr. 3)
• SPED 424 - Approaches to Managing Exceptional Children (Lec. 3, Cr. 3)

• 
  Choose one of the following:

• EDUC 483M - Student Teaching Non-Master’s Alternative Certification (Lab. 12, Cr. 6)
• EDUC 485M - Internship Non-Master’s Alternative Certification (Lab. 12, Cr. 3)  (Must be repeated to accrue 6 credit hours)

Note

Students must earn a grade of C or better in all courses applied to the certificate.
