Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, and Engineering Management Concentrations


  • Approved courses in Engineering concentration area1, 2 - 12/thesis; 15/non-thesis 
  • Approved Engineering courses or courses from an approved related discipline3, 4 - 12/thesis; 21/non-thesis
  • Thesis - 6

Notes


At least half the number of courses taken must be above the 600 level.

1Chemical Engineering must include: CHEG 601, CHEG 617, and CHEG 641; Civil Engineering must include: CIEN 615, CIEN 624, and CIEN 650; Electrical Engineering must include: ELEN 510, ELEN 601, ELEN 650, and ELEN 664. Mechanical Engineering must include: MEEN 550, MEEN 607, MEEN 627, and MEEN 635.
2Engineering Management is non-thesis and must include the courses from one of the above concentrations.
3Chemical, Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical concentrations are limited to at most six (6) hours from an approved related discipline such as mathematics, science, or computer science.
4Engineering Management concentration must include the following courses (from the College of Business): ACCT 602, ECON 602, FIN 600, MGMT 604, and MKTG 605.

Total Hours for Degree: 30/thesis or 36/non-thesis


Entrance/Advising Exam


Newly admitted graduate students are required to take an entrance/advising exam prior to enrolling in graduate level engineering courses. Any deficiencies in the student’s background needed for a particular concentration must be addressed by completing some or all of the leveling engineering courses and/or mathematics and physics courses listed below:
