ELEN 455 - Electrical Power Systems Analysis (Lec. 3, Cr. 3)

This course covers topics in AC and DC transmission such as: the per unit concept of transformer and generator analysis; transient stability of power systems; supervisory control and data acquistion (SCADA); protective relaying; power-flow and economic power dispatch using analytical techniques and power system simulators; basic energy economics, efficiency and ethics of dynamic pricing and smart meters; the smart grid with integrated renewable and distributed generation (i.e., photovoltaic and wind power).
