BIOL 408 - Cancer Biology


Description
Students will learn the molecular basis of cancer development, including the major signaling pathways and cell cycle regulation, to use as a foundation for other course topics. A modern integrative approach to cancer biology will be taken and will include the following topics: mutations, epigenetics, stroma and the tumor microenvironment, gene misregulation, angiogenesis, and metastasis. Mechanisms of inherited, environmental, and viral cancers, as well as principles of cancer treatment including chemotherapy, radiation, and therapeutic cancer vaccines will be introduced.
