Sociology, Family Science Concentration, BA


Total Hours Required for Degree: 120

McNeese State University is one of more than 130 universities and colleges in the U.S. and Canada that have degree programs reviewed and approved by the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) as meeting the criteria for the provisional Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) credential. Students in the Sociology B.A., Family Science concentration receive comprehensive training in the ten content areas that make up Family Life Education. Graduates of NCFR CFLE-approved programs qualify to apply for the CFLE designation via the CFLE-approved program process without taking the exam to receive their provisional CFLE credential. 

The Sociology, Family Science Concentration, BA program is only offered 100% online.

  • ANTH, CJUS, or GEOG Elective - 3 hours
  • Elective - 3 hours
  • PHIL or RELS Elective - 3 hours

Notes


  • A minor is strongly encouraged.
  • Credits from KNES Activity  courses will not be applied toward the degree.
  • No more than 6 credit hours of Music Ensemble and Music Performance  courses will be applied toward the degree.
  • Students must earn a grade of C or better in all FMSC and SOCL courses.

General Notes


  • All bachelor’s degrees must include 40 hours at the 300/400 level.
  • All bachelor’s degrees require the successful completion of at least nine hours of Natural Sciences General Education Curriculum  courses. Six hours shall be earned in a single life or physical science; the remaining three hours must be earned in a natural science area other than that previously selected (both life and physical sciences must be taken to fulfill this requirement).
