Bachelor of General Studies
The Bachelor degree in General Studies with concentrations in Arts and Humanities, Applied and Natural Sciences, and Behavioral Sciences is a broad based, interdisciplinary program that offers students the opportunity to develop critical thinking and cultural awareness through an individualized course of study. Students who wish to pursue this degree concurrently with another degree or as a second degree will not be permitted to apply the major hours from the primary degree to the concentration area in the General Studies curriculum.
Subject Area Blocks
Students pursuing the Bachelor degree in General Studies must choose one of the following blocks for the Concentration Area. The two remaining blocks must be used as Enrichment Areas.

Students who wish to pursue the Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) must meet the following requirements:
- Must earn a GPA of 2.0 or better in all courses counted toward the degree.
- Must earn a GPA of 2.0 or better in all courses in the General Education Requirements (Core).
- Must earn a GPA of 2.0 or better in all courses used in the concentration area.
- Must earn a grade of “C” or better in English 101 and 102.
- Must earn at least 40 hours of 300/400 level coursework and meet the following conditions:
- Must earn at least 12 hours of 300/400 level coursework in the concentration area.
- Must earn at least 3 hours of 300/400 level coursework in each enrichment area.
- Must complete an international education component chosen with the guidance of the General Studies advisor.
- Students who choose to pursue minors are permitted to use those courses in the core and as free electives only.
- Must earn a grade of “C” or better in GNST 400 (Capstone Course).
