Prerequisites
In addition to the general requirements for admission to Graduate School, applicants for admission to the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program must meet the following requirements:
- A minimum score of 1100 on the GRE formula (150 x undergraduate GPA + GRE [Verbal + Quantitative] score).
- Adequate preparation as determined by the head of the department and the major professor—Students should submit a selection of 15 to 20 poems, several short stories, or a few chapters from a novel with a letter of application to the head of the department.

Total Hours: 60
One half of the total number of hours required for the degree shall be in courses open to graduate students only.
- Thesis - 6
(Novel or collection of short stories or poems)
- Graduate English Electives - 27
