CHEM 301 - Organic Chemistry I


Organic concepts initially based upon ideas met in General Chemistry. Structural theory, reaction types and energetics, structure-property relationships, functional groups/families, acid-base chemistry, the hydrocarbons, stereochemistry, and SN and E reactions. Interplay of electronic, steric and orbital factors in determining the fates of organic reactions. Curved arrow convention is introduced.

Notes
Corequisite courses in chemistry must be taken simultaneously unless previous credit has been earned in one or the other. If one Corequisite course is dropped, the other must be dropped at the same time.

Prerequisite: CHEM 102. Corequisite: CHEM 301L.
