EDUC 299 - Entrance into Minor Program of Study


Description
Candidates declaring a minor in teacher education must register for EDUC 299. The portal course requires prior submission of the completed EDUC 299 packet for official admission into a minor in education program, including a 2.50 minimum cumulative GPA, completion of a mandated reporter training, an approved narrative, specific course requirements, passing scores on the Praxis content exam, and any additional items noted in the packet.

Upon meeting criteria for official admission into the program, candidates will submit the EDUC 299 packet to the department chair in education professions for approval prior to the semester for which they wish to enroll in the portal course. Candidates will be assigned a grade of S (Satisfactory) once the packet is approved and the candidate has successfully registered for the portal course. A grade of S in this portal course is required in order to enroll in Portal II education, educational technology, or special education courses.

Candidates are required to complete all components and submit the packet prior to enrollment in the course. Refer to the Teacher Education Preparation Portals page of the Academic Catalog for additional portal requirements.

Prerequisite(s): Declaration of a teacher education minor; completed 30 semester hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50; completed EDUC 110 with a grade of S; submission of passing scores on the Praxis content exam; and permission of department head.
