English-Creative Writing Concentration

Total Hours Required for Degree:  39

The low-residency Master of Arts in English with a concentration in Creative Writing program is a studio program focusing on students’ growth and maturation as writers of literary fiction and poetry. The program can be completed in 2-3 years, depending on course progression. The foundation of the program is the 15 required workshop hours and the completion of a creative Master of Arts thesis.

Required summer residencies will be offered for one week each summer. During that week, students will take part in intensive workshops, readings, lectures, and mentorships.

Admittance into the low-residency Master of Arts in English with a concentration in Creative Writing program requires an earned Bachelor’s degree. Applicants must submit a letter of application and a 10-20 page writing sample to the program coordinator. Adequate preparation for admittance will be determined by the program coordinator and associated faculty.
