Nursing-Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Concentration

Total Hours Required for Degree:  48 (Focused Scholarly Project Option) or 51 (Thesis Option)

Please review the Admission to the Master of Science in Nursing Degree Program requirements located under the Graduate Studies section of the College of Nursing catalog page. 

To earn the Master of Science in Nursing with a role and population focus or a specialization, the student must:

  • Complete all degree requirements including:
    • A minimum of 48 credit hours for the Nurse Practitioner role and population focus of psychiatric/mental health (PMHNP).
  • Complete a Focused Scholarly Project or a Thesis.
  • Maintain a 3.0 GPA at all times.

General Notes:


  • Credits applied must be earned within 6 calendar years from the time the student first enrolled in the program.
  • Only transfer credits with a grade of ‘B’ or better may be applied toward the degree.
  • Students must earn a grade of ‘B’ or better in all courses applied to the degree.
