Liberal Studies (B.A.)

All Liberal Studies majors must complete the degree requirements block (67 credit hours) and they must select a concentration block (57 credit hours) from the choices that follow. The Liberal Studies degree requires a minimum of 45 hours at the 300+ level.

Notes


1MATH 122 and MATH 223 may not be used to satisfy the math requirement.
2Science requirements must include biological and physical sciences, of which 6 hours must be in the same subject area, with a two-semester sequence recommended.
3Two of the courses used to satisfy the math and sciences requirements must be writing enriched-see General Education Requirements  section.
4Any Art, Music, or Theatre course that meets the General Education Requirements  may be used.

Humanities Concentration

1Student may opt out of the foreign language sequence and select 12 hours of international studies from among the following courses: ART 361, ART 362, ART 363, ART 461; ENGL 401, ENGL 402, ENGL 404, ENGL 479; GEOG 311; GOVT 320, GOVT 403, GOVT 421, GOVT 422; HIST 331, HIST 341, HIST 342, HIST 343, HIST 344, HIST 355, HIST 356, HIST 357, HIST 362, HIST 380, HIST 381, HIST 431, HIST 432, HIST 440, HIST 450, HIST 451, HIST 452, HIST 456, HIST 457, HIST 461, HIST 462; RELS 211; SOCL 430.

Students must inform their academic advisor in the Department of History of their intent to pursue this concentration. Pursuit of this concentration may require additional hours to satisfy prerequisites.

1Third course may still be taken; it can be counted among the remaining 12 hours.
2Topics courses must be related to subject area of this concentration.

1Sequence of 101, 102, 201, and 202 in a single foreign language is preferred, but 12 hours total in no more than two foreign languages is the minimum requirement.
