Music Performance (B.M.)

Degree plan and requirements may differ according to concentration. Concentrations are: band or orchestral instrument, jazz/commercial music, piano, piano pedagogy, and voice. Students who wish to concentrate in one of these areas are encouraged to review the specific requirements for their concentration.

Senior Year


Total Hours: 32

  • Approved Electives3 - 8
  • Major Performance Study 401-402 - 4
  • Minor Instrument Performance Study - 2
  • Music History or Literature Elective - 3
  • Music Ensemble - 2

Notes


1Six (6) hours must be selected from the approved Writing Enriched courses- see General Education Requirements  section.

Students enrolled in all performance concentrations must successfully pass the Admission into Upper Division Major Performance Study Board in order to progress into 300-level major performance study.
3No more than 2 surplus hours of the performance major, 2 additional hours of minor performance study, and 2 surplus hours of ensemble may be used to fulfill the elective requirement.

The following will be taken as the required ensemble for all students in this concentration. Only one credit of a major ensemble may be applied to degree requirements each semester.

Vocal Ensemble


A student who wishes to participate in a vocal ensemble will enroll in either the following as deemed appropriate by the director of choral activities. Only one credit of a major ensemble may be applied to degree requirements each semester.
