School Counseling (M.Ed.)

Prerequisites


In addition to the general requirements for admission to Graduate School, applicants for admission to the Master of Education in School Counseling program must meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum of 18 semester hours at the junior/senior level or above in education or behavioral studies (psychology, sociology, criminal justice, social work) or another discipline as approved by department head.
  • An acceptable GRE score, which is determined by the following formula: Undergraduate GPA x 150 + GRE (verbal + quantitative) score must equal a minimum of 1200.

Students are offered the option on continuing with counseling course work to complete an additional 30 credit hours. These courses can be used to meet the state licensing requirements as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Students will be grouped in cohorts for enrollment purposes.
