Environmental and Chemical Sciences (M.S.)


Prerequisites


In addition to the general requirements for admission to Graduate School, applicants for admission to the Master of Science in Environmental and Chemical Sciences program must meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum score of 1100 on the GRE formula (150 x undergraduate GPA + GRE [Verbal + Quantitative] score).
  • Bachelor of Science degree in one of the sciences (or science education) and adequate preparation for a particular concentration as determined by the admissions committee and/or coordinator for the degree program.

Notes


All courses toward the degree must be approved by the major professor and the coordinator of the program.
At least half the number of courses taken in either the thesis or non-thesis option must be courses numbered above 600. Also, a candidate is required to pass satisfactorily a comprehensive written and/or oral examination in the area of concentration.

*Environmental Science or Agricultural Sciences courses for those concentrating in Chemistry (or Chemistry Education.); Chemistry or Agricultural Sciences courses for those concentrating in Environmental Science (or Environmental Sciences Education); Chemistry or Environmental Courses for those concentrating in Agricultural Sciences.

**Electives may be chosen from graduate courses in Agricultural Sciences, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.

Students who have background deficiencies for their area of concentration may be required to take leveling courses that will not apply toward the Master of Science Degree.
