Special Education Mild/Moderate for Secondary Education Grades 6-12, GC


Total Hours Required for Graduate Certificate: 18

The Special Education Mild/Moderate for Secondary Education Grades 6-12, GC program leads to add-on teacher certification and is only offered 100% online.

Note: The state has specific literacy requirements to add Special Education to your initial certification. Contact your advisor for additional information.

Program Admission


In addition to the general requirements for admission  to the William J. Doré, Sr. School of Graduate Studies, applicants for admission to the Special Education Mild/Moderate for Secondary Education Grades 6-12, GC program must provide evidence of a valid teaching certificate.

Term 1: Fall - 6 hours


Note: SPED 604 and SPED 617 require 25 field experience hours each.

Term 2: Spring - 6 hours


Note: SPED 615 and SPED 625 require 25 field experience hours each.

Term 3: Summer - 3 hours


Note: SPED 623 requires 20 field experience hours.

Term 4: Fall - 3 hours


Note: SPED 681 requires 25 field experience hours.

Notes


  • No grade below C and not more than 3 credit hours of C work can be applied toward the certificate.
