Special Education Mild/Moderate for Secondary Education Grades 6-12, GC

Program Admission

In addition to the general requirements for admission  to the William J. Doré, Sr. School of Graduate Studies, applicants for admission to the Special Education Mild/Moderate for Secondary Education Grades 6-12, GC program must provide evidence of a valid teaching certificate.

Term 1: Fall - 6 hours

Note: SPED 604 and SPED 617 require 25 field experience hours each.

• SPED 604 - Methods of Teaching Students with Learning and Behavioral Problems Cr: 3
• SPED 617 - Precision Assessment and Diagnostic/Prescriptive Strategies Cr: 3

Term 2: Spring - 6 hours

Note: SPED 615 and SPED 625 require 25 field experience hours each.

• SPED 615 - Methods of Behavior and Classroom Management Cr: 3
• SPED 625 - Transition and Vocational Planning for Individuals with Disabilities Cr: 3

Term 3: Summer - 3 hours

Note: SPED 623 requires 20 field experience hours.

• SPED 623 - Advanced Consultation and Collaboration Strategies for Program Planning Cr: 3

Term 4: Fall - 3 hours

Note: SPED 681 requires 25 field experience hours.

• SPED 681 - Implementing Technology for Students with Special Needs Cr: 3

Notes

• No grade below C and not more than 3 credit hours of C work can be applied toward the certificate.
