Medical Laboratory Assistant, UC

Program Admission

In order to be formally admitted into the Medical Laboratory Assistant, UC program, students must:

• Be pursuing a baccalaureate degree at McNeese; and
• Submit a curriculum change request, approved by the head of the Department of Health Professions, to Student Central.

Term 1: Spring - 6 hours

• MLS 210 - Introduction to Medical Laboratory Science Cr: 3
• NRHP 100 - Medical Terminology Cr: 3

Term 2: Fall - 9 hours

• MLS 322 - Hematology and Urinalysis Cr: 3
• MLS 445 - Medical Laboratory Procedures I Cr: 2

  Choose one of the following:

• BIOL 201 - Microbiology for Nursing and Allied Health Cr: 4
• BIOL 211 - Introductory Microbiology Cr: 4

Term 3: Spring - 5 hours

• MLS 442 - Diagnostic Microbiology Cr: 3
• MLS 447 - Medical Laboratory Procedures II Cr: 2

Note

Students must earn a grade of C or better in all courses applied to the certificate.
