ECON 620 - Understanding Economic Reporting in the News


Economic news reported in the Wall Street Journal and other media are rigorously analyzed and interpreted using the tools of microeconomic and macroeconomic theory. Major topic areas include supply, demand, and elasticity; international trade, trade barriers, currency markets, and the balance of payments; competition, monopoly, and government regulation; Gross Domestic Product, unemployment, inflation, recession, interest rates, monetary and fiscal policy and economic growth.

Prerequisites: MBA 610; ECON 602 or its equivalent; and/or permission of MBA Director.
