EDUC 599 - Admission to the Master of Arts in Teaching Program


Description
Candidates planning to earn their initial certification through a post-baccalaureate Master of Arts in Teaching program must register for EDUC 599. Candidates must be admitted to the institution for graduate study and meet program admissions criteria. The portal course includes mandatory attendance at workshop(s) designed to assist candidates in completing the EDUC 599 packet required for official admission into the Master of Arts in Teaching teacher education program, including submission of official ACT/SAT/Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators scores, passing Praxis content exam scores, and course requirements. Candidates are required to submit the EDUC 599 packet prior to the end of the semester to receive a grade of Satisfactory (S) for the course. If all components of the packet are not met and/or the packet is not submitted by the indicated due date for the semester, a grade of Unsatisfactory (U) will be assigned. A grade of Satisfactory in this portal course is required to enroll in courses beyond the first semester of the program coursework sequence.

Candidates are required to complete all components of the packet by the due date indicated in the course calendar. No incomplete grades will be assigned for this course.

Prerequisite(s): Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 at time of baccalaureate degree conferral; submission of passing scores on either the (ACT, SAT, or Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators exam) or Praxis content exam; and permission of department head.
Corequisite(s): EDUC 510 and EDUC 647.
