EDUC 223 - PK-5 Math Methods I

Description
Current principles, practices, methods, and materials for designing and implementing mathematics instruction in the PK-5 classroom. Candidates will familiarize themselves with the Louisiana Student Standards for Mathematics and how the standards are taught within the PK-5 mathematics classroom as related to foundational numeracy skills and competencies including place values, understanding numbers, and early operations (addition and subtraction). High Quality Materials (HQM) will guide candidates in understanding the alignment of standards, assessment of student knowledge, and student misconceptions. Course content aligns with the Praxis Elementary Mathematics sub-test topics.
