1Six (6) hours must be selected from the approved Writing Enriched courses- see General Education Requirements  section.
2With permission of the department head, students may substitute the 12 hour foreign language requirement with 12 hours of international studies which include the following: ART. 361, 362, 363; ECON 321, 431; ENGL 401, 402, 404, 479; GEOG 311; GOVT 320, 403, 421; HIST 331, 337, 341, 342, 343, 344, 353, 355, 356, 357, 423, 430, 431, 432, 443, 450, 451,454, 456, 457, 461, 462; RELS 211; SOCL 430.
3Science requirements must include biological and physical (or geological) sciences, of which 6 hours must be in the same area, with a two-semester sequence recommended. Two of the courses used to satisfy mathematics and science requirements must be writing-enriched courses.
4College of Business credits which may be applied toward a degree in Liberal Studies are limited to 30 semester hours for the Bachelor’s degree.
5Course must be selected from section #9 of the General Education Requirements  section.

Louisiana Studies Concentration


To complete the Concentration in Louisiana Studies, History majors must select French as their foreign language. Liberal Studies majors must select the foreign language option and must choose French. In addition, students in either History or Liberal Studies must complete 18 semester hours within the following designations: Students must take HIST 301 and GEOG 221; students may choose ENGL 465 or ENGL 481; the remaining 9 semester hours may be selected from : ANTH 411, ENGL 465, ENGLE 475, ENGL 481, ENGL 4961 , GOVT 301, HIST 4001 , HIST 401, HIST 402, MUSC 350. Students must inform their academic advisor in the Department of History of their intent to pursue this concentration so that Electives may be used appropriately.

Southeastern American Indian Studies Concentration


Any student considering the Concentration in American Indian Studies (CSEAIS) should be aware that they may be required to take credit hours above the degree requirements, depending upon the degree they are seeking. They should also inform their advisor of their plan to pursue the CSEAIS so that core classes may be planned appropriately. Students should seek specific advisement for the CSEAIS in the Department of History. The CSEAIS requires a total of 18 semester hours.
