The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Elementary Education Grades 1-5 leads to initial teacher certification. All teacher education preparation requirements must be satisfied for this certificate.

Program Admission
No prerequisites are needed other than a baccalaureate degree. Official admission into the program is contingent upon meeting the requirements for EDUC 499.
Term 1: Summer - 6 hours
Note: EDUC 203 and EDUC 216 require 10 field experience hours each. EDUC 499 packet must be approved prior to enrolling in EDUC and SPED 300/400 level courses.
Term 2: Fall - 5 hours
Note: EDUC 316 requires 20 field experience hours, and EDUC 326 requires 15 field experience hours. Term 3: Spring - 6 hours
Note: EDUC 325 requires 15 field experience hours, EDUC 327 requires 20 field experience hours, and SPED 320 requires 5 field experience hours. Term 4: Summer - 5 hours
Note: EDUC 416 requires 20 field experience hours. Term 5: Fall - 8 hours
Note: EDUC 351 requires 10 field experience hours, EDUC 469 requires 20 field experience hours, and (EDUC 460E requires a minimum of 80% of the instructional week in an assigned grade 1-5 classroom completing residency hours, or EDUC 462E requires 100% of the instructional week in a grade 1-5 classroom as the teacher of record).
Term 6: Spring - 3 hours
Note: EDUC 461E requires 100% of the instructional week in an assigned grade 1-5 classroom completing residency hours, or EDUC 463E requires 100% of the instructional week in a grade 1-5 classroom as the teacher of record.
Note
Students must earn a grade of C or better in all courses applied to the certificate. |
