The Middle School Education Grades 4-8 [Mathematics], PBC program leads to initial teacher certification, accepts new students only in the fall semester, and is only offered 100% online. All teacher education preparation requirements must be satisfied for this certificate (see Teacher Education Preparation Portals ).

Program Admission
By meeting the general requirements for admission and the following prerequisites, applicants can enroll in Portal I courses:
- Possess a baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a USDOE-approved institutional accreditor; and
- Have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5 at the time of baccalaureate degree conferral.
Official admission into the program is contingent upon meeting the requirements for EDUC 499.
This program does not accept applicants on a conditional basis.
Term 1: Fall - 7 hours
Note: EDUC 203 requires 10 field experience hours, and EDUC 220 requires 5 field experience hours. EDUC 499 packet must be approved prior to enrolling in EDUC 300/400 level courses. Term 2: Spring - 6 hours
Note: EDUC 323 and EDUC 333 require 15 field experience hours each. Term 4: Fall - 8 hours
Note: EDUC 351 requires 10 field experience hours, EDUC 469 requires 20 field experience hours, and (EDUC 460M requires a minimum of 60% of the instructional week in an assigned grade 4-8 classroom completing residency hours, or EDUC 462M requires 100% of the instructional week in a grade 4-8 classroom as the teacher of record). Term 5: Spring - 6 hours
Note: EDUC 330 requires 15 field experience hours, and (EDUC 461M requires 100% of the instructional week in an assigned grade 4-8 classroom completing residency hours, or EDUC 463M requires 100% of the instructional week in a grade 4-8 classroom as the teacher of record). Note
Students must earn a grade of C or better in all courses applied to the certificate.
