Program Admission

No prerequisites are needed other than a teaching certificate.

This program does not accept applicants on a conditional basis.

Term 1: Fall - 6 hours

Note:  EDUC 336 requires 15 field experience hours.

• EDTC 245 - Educational Technology Foundations Cr: 3
• EDUC 336 - Assessment in Special and Inclusive Education Cr: 3

Term 2: Spring - 3 hours

Note:  EDUC 216 requires 10 field experience hours, and EDUC 316 and EDUC 416 require 20 field experience hours each.

• Choose one of the following:

• EDUC 216 - Reading Methods I Cr: 3
• EDUC 316 - Reading Methods II Cr: 3
• EDUC 416 - Diagnostic and Remedial Reading in the Elementary School Cr: 3

Term 3: Fall - 6 hours

Note:  SPED 403 and SPED 443 require 20 field experience hours each.

• SPED 403 - Working with Families and Paraprofessionals in Programs for Exceptional Students Cr: 3
• SPED 443 - Methods and Materials for Elementary Special Education Cr: 3

Term 4: Spring - 3 hours

Note:  SPED 424 requires 20 field experience hours.

• SPED 424 - Approaches to Managing Exceptional Children Cr: 3

Note

Students must earn a grade of C or better in all courses applied to the certificate.
