Instructional Technology, MS

Program Admission

In addition to the general requirements for admission  to the William J. Doré, Sr. School of Graduate Studies, applicants for admission to the Instructional Technology, MS program must have one of the following:

• A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00 or higher; or
• A minimum undergraduate GPA between 2.70 and 2.99 and a minimum Graduate Record Exam (GRE) score of 304 (Verbal + Quantitative).​

The Instructional Technology, MS program does not accept applicants on a conditional basis.

Term 1: Fall - 9 hours

Note:  EDTC 602 requires 25 field experience hours, and EDTC 614 requires 15 field experience hours.

• EDTC 602 - Design and Development of Multimedia for Instruction Cr: 3
• EDTC 610 - Visual Learning Cr: 3
• EDTC 614 - Survey of Educational Telecommunications, Networks, and the Internet Cr: 3

Term 2: Spring - 6 hours

Note:  EDTC 617 requires 15 field experience hours, and EDUC 601 requires 10 field experience hours. 

• EDTC 617 - Educational Technology Research and Assessment: Instructional Media Design Cr: 3
• EDUC 601 - Research I: Foundations of Educational Research Cr: 3

Term 3: Summer - 9 hours

Note:  EDTC 621 requires 15 field experience hours.

• EDTC 621 - Advanced Telecommunications and Distance Learning Cr: 3
• EDTC 626 - Principles of Graphics Communication and Desktop Publishing Cr: 3
• EDTC 627 - Mobile Technologies Cr: 3

Term 4: Fall - 6 hours

Note:  EDUC 670 requires 10 field experience hours.

• EDTC 628 - Emerging Instructional Technologies Cr: 3
• EDUC 670 - Research II: Applied Educational Research Cr: 3

Term 5: Spring - 6 hours

Note:  EDUC 699 requires 10 field experience hours.

• EDTC 631 - Special Topics in Educational Technology Cr: 3
• EDUC 699 - Research III: Seminar in Educational Research Cr: 3

General Notes

• At least one-half of the total number of credit hours required for a graduate degree, excluding credit for thesis, must be at the 600 level.
• Credits applied must be earned within 6 calendar years from the time the student first enrolled in the program.
• No grade below C and not more than 6 credit hours of C work can be applied toward the degree.
• Only transfer credits with a grade of B or better may be applied toward the degree.
