Special Education Mild/Moderate for Secondary Education Grades 6-12, GC


Total Hours Required for Graduate Certificate: 18

The graduate certificate in Special Education Mild/Moderate for Secondary Education Grades 6-12 leads to add-on teacher certification. This graduate certificate is for candidates pursuing an add-on certification to a secondary education teaching certificate and is only offered 100% online.

Program Admission


In addition to the general requirements for admission to the William J. Doré, Sr. School of Graduate Studies, applicants for admission to the Special Education Mild/Moderate for Secondary Education Grades 6-12, GC program must provide evidence of a valid teaching certificate.

Term 1: Fall - 6 hours


Note: SPED 604 and SPED 617 require 20 field experience hours each.

Term 2: Spring - 3 hours


Note: SPED 681 requires 20 field experience hours.

Term 4: Fall - 3 hours


Note: SPED 615 requires 20 field experience hours.

  • No grades below C and not more than 3 credit hours of C work can be applied toward the certificate.
