Program Admission

No prerequisites are needed other than a valid teaching certificate.

This program does not accept applicants on a conditional basis.

Term 1: Fall - 6 hours

Note: EDTC 245 requires 5 field experience hours, and SPED 336 requires 15 field experience hours.

The state has specific literacy requirements to add Special Education to your initial certification. Contact your advisor for additional information.

• EDTC 245 - Educational Technology Foundations Cr: 3
• SPED 336 - Assessment in Special and Inclusive Education Cr: 3

Term 2: Spring - 3 hours

Note: EDUC 316 requires 20 field experience hours.

• EDUC 316 - Reading Methods II Cr: 3

Term 3: Fall - 3 hours

Note: SPED 403 requires 20 field experience hours.

• SPED 403 - Working with Families and Paraprofessionals in Programs for Exceptional Students Cr: 3

Term 4: Spring - 6 hours

Note: SPED 424 and SPED 443 require 20 field experience hours each.

• SPED 424 - Approaches to Managing Exceptional Children Cr: 3
• SPED 443 - Methods and Materials for Elementary Special Education Cr: 3

Note

Students must earn a grade of C or better in all courses applied to the certificate.
