School Counseling

Prerequisites


In addition to the general requirements for admission to Graduate School, applicants for admission to the Master of Education in School Counseling program must meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum of 18 semester hours at the junior/senior level or above in education, behavioral studies (psychology, sociology, criminal justice, social work), or another discipline as approved by the department head.
  • A minimum GRE score of 1200 using the following formula: Undergraduate GPA x 150 + GRE (verbal + quantitative) score.

General Notes


  • Credits applied must be earned within 6 calendar years from the time the student first enrolled in the program.
  • No grades below ‘C’ and not more than 6 credit hours of ‘C’ work can be applied toward the degree.
  • Only transfer credits with a grade of ‘B’ or better may be applied toward the degree.
