School Counseling, MEd

Total Hours Required for Degree:  48


In addition to the general requirements for the admission to Graduate School, applicants for admission to the Master of Education program must have:

  • Minimum of 18 credit hours at the 300+ level in education, behavioral studies (criminal justice, psychology, sociology, etc.), or another discipline as approved by the department head; and
  • One of the following:
    • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 at the time of baccalaureate degree conferral; or
    • Minimum undergraduate GPA between 2.7 and 2.99 at the time of baccalaureate degree conferral​ and a minimum Graduate Record Exam (GRE) score of 304 (Verbal + Quantitative).


General Notes

  • At least one-half of the total number of credit hours required for a graduate degree, excluding credit for thesis, must be at the 600 level.
  • Credits applied must be earned within 6 calendar years from the time the student first enrolled in the program.
  • No grade below C and not more than 6 credit hours of C work can be applied toward the degree.
  • Only transfer credits with a grade of B or better may be applied toward the degree.
