Prerequisites
- English Language Proficiency:
- TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language): ≥ 75;
- IELTS (International English Language Testing System): ≥ 6.0;
- Pearson PTE Academic: ≥ 50; or
- DUOLINGO English Test: ≥ 50.
- GRE (Graduate Record Examination): ≥ 275 (Quantitative + Verbal)
- GPA (Grade Point Average): ≥ 2.75
Newly admitted graduate students are required to be seen by a graduate advisor prior to enrolling in graduate level engineering courses. All prerequisite and deficiencies in the student’s background for a particular concentration must be addressed by completing some or all of the leveling engineering, mathematics and/or physics courses listed below. Must have sufficient background in the following courses: Thesis Option
- CHEN, CSCI, ENGR, MATH, or STAT Electives (500/600 Level) - 12 hours
- CHEN, CSCI, ENGR, MATH, or STAT Electives (600 Level) - 12 hours
Non-Thesis Option
- CHEN, CSCI, ENGR, MATH, or STAT Electives (500/600 Level) - 18 hours
- CHEN, CSCI, ENGR, MATH, or STAT Electives (600 Level) - 18 hours
Notes
- For thesis option, only 6 hours of CSCI, MATH, and STAT can be used. For non-thesis option, only 9 hours of CSCI, MATH, and STAT can be used.
- The courses taken must be approved by an advisor.
- For non-thesis option, students must also pass the Graduate Comprehensive Exam (GCE).
- Student must successfully pass GCE during the final semester. This GCE is based on topics presented in required courses.
- Student with unsatisfactory result in first attempt of GCE will be given a second exam within the same semester. Failure on the second attempt of GCE will result in additional courses recommended by the Chemical Engineering Graduate Committee.
- The third attempt of GCE is the final attempt and a failure in passing the GCE will result in failure to complete the Master of Engineering graduate requirements and student will not graduate from the program.
General Notes
- At least one-half of the total number of credit hours required for a graduate degree, excluding credit for thesis, must be at the 600 level.
- Credits applied must be earned within 6 calendar years from the time the student first enrolled in the program.
- No grade below C and not more than 6 credit hours of C work can be applied toward the degree.
- Only transfer credits with a grade of B or better may be applied toward the degree.
