The Secondary Education Grades 6-12 [Chemistry], PBC program leads to initial teacher certification and is only offered 100% online. All teacher education preparation requirements must be satisfied for this certificate.

Program Admission
By meeting the general requirements for admission and the following prerequisites, applicants can enroll in Portal I courses:
- Possess a baccalaureate degree from a regionally-accredited university; and
- Have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5 at the time of baccalaureate degree conferral.
Official admission into the program is contingent upon meeting the requirements for EDUC 499.
Term 1: Fall - 6 hours
Note: EDUC 203 requires 10 field experience hours. EDUC 499 packet must be approved prior to enrolling in EDUC and SPED 300/400 level courses. Term 2: Spring - 8 hours
Note: EDUC 333 requires 15 field experience hours, and EDUC 403 requires 20 field experience hours. Term 4: Fall - 8 hours
Note: EDUC 351 requires 10 field experience hours, EDUC 469 requires 20 field experience hours, and (EDUC 460S requires a minimum of 60% of the instructional week in an assigned grade 6-12 classroom completing residency hours, or EDUC 462S requires 100% of the instructional week in a grade 6-12 classroom as the teacher of record).
Term 5: Spring - 6 hours
Note: SPED 424 requires 20 field experience hours, and (EDUC 461S requires 100% of the instructional week in an assigned grade 6-12 classroom completing residency hours, or EDUC 463S requires 100% of the instructional week in a grade 6-12 classroom as the teacher of record).
Note
Students must earn a grade of C or better in all courses applied to the certificate.
