Elementary Education Grades 1-5, Minor

Total Hours Required for Minor: 19

Students with a minor in Elementary Education Grades 1-5 will be eligible to begin a teaching career with a temporary teaching certificate and will need an additional 14 credit hours and passing scores on the Praxis Principles of Learning and Teaching: Grades K-6 (#5622) exam to become a certified teacher.

This minor does not fulfill all certification requirements for earning a teaching license.

Term 1: Fall - 4 hours

Note: EDUC 216 requires 15 field experience hours. 

EDUC 299 packet must be approved prior to enrolling in Portal II courses.

Term 2: Spring - 5 hours

Note: EDUC 316 and EDUC 325 require 15 field experience hours each.

Term 4: Fall - 5 hours

Note: EDUC 414 requires 10 field experience hours, and EDUC 416 requires 20 field experience hours. 

Term 5: Spring - 5 hours

Note: EDUC 326 requires 15 field experience hours, and EDUC 327 requires 20 field experience hours.

Note

Students must earn a grade of C or better in all courses applied to the minor.
