Curriculum and Instruction, Transformational Teaching and Learning Concentration, MEd

Program Admission

In addition to the general requirements for admission  to the William J. Doré, Sr. School of Graduate Studies, applicants for admission to the Curriculum and Instruction, Transformational Teaching and Learning Concentration, MEd program must have:

• Evidence of a valid teaching certificate; and
• One of the following:
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 at the time of baccalaureate degree conferral; or
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA between 2.7 and 2.99 at the time of baccalaureate degree conferral​ and a minimum Graduate Record Exam (GRE) score of 304 (Verbal + Quantitative).

The Curriculum and Instruction, Transformational Teaching and Learning Concentration, MEd program does not accept applicants on a conditional basis.

Term 1: Fall - 9 hours

Note: EDTC 602 requires 25 field experience hours, and EDTC 614 and EDTC 621 require 15 field experience hours each.

• EDUC 510 - Portfolio Management for Teacher Education Programs and Certifications Cr: 0
• EDUC 603 - Admission to the Master of Education Program Cr: 0

Term 2: Spring - 9 hours

Note: EDTC 617 requires 15 field experience hours, and EDTC 625 and EDTC 629 require 30 field experience hours each.

• EDTC 617 - Educational Technology Research and Assessment: Instructional Media Design Cr: 3
• EDTC 625 - Technology Planning and Administration Cr: 3
• EDTC 629 - Professional Development for K-12 Technology Integration Cr: 3

Term 3: Summer - 6 hours

Note: EDTC 637 requires 30 field experience hours, and EDUC 601 requires 10 field experience hours.

• EDTC 637 - Technology Leadership in Schools Cr: 3
• EDUC 601 - Research I: Foundations of Educational Research Cr: 3

Term 4: Fall - 6 hours

Note: EDUC 504 requires 25 field experience hours, and EDUC 670 requires 10 field experience hours. 

• EDUC 504 - Mentor Teacher Training I Cr: 3
• EDUC 670 - Research II: Applied Educational Research Cr: 3

Term 5: Spring - 6 hours

Note: (EDUC 505, EDUC 506, EDUC 507, or EDUC 508) requires 25 field experience hours, and EDUC 699 requires 10 field experience hours.

• EDUC 699 - Research III: Seminar in Educational Research Cr: 3

• EDUC 505 - Mentor Teacher Training II for Elementary Education Cr: 3
• EDUC 506 - Mentor Teacher Training II for Secondary ELA Cr: 3

• EDUC 508 - Mentor Teacher Training II for Universal Cr: 3

General Notes

• At least one-half of the total number of credit hours required for a graduate degree, excluding credit for thesis, must be at the 600 level.
• Credits applied must be earned within 6 calendar years from the time the student first enrolled in the program.
• No grade below C and not more than 6 credit hours of C work can be applied toward the degree.
• Only transfer credits with a grade of B or better may be applied toward the degree.
