Reading Specialist, PMC

Program Admission

In addition to the general requirements for admission  to the William J. Doré, Sr. School of Graduate Studies, applicants for admission to the Reading Specialist, PMC program must:

• Provide evidence of a valid teaching certificate; and
• Possess a master’s degree from an institution accredited by a USDOE-approved institutional accreditor.

Term 1: Fall - 6 hours

Note: EDUC 627 and EDUC 645 require 15 field experience hours each.

• EDUC 627 - Foundations of Reading Cr: 3
• EDUC 645 - Reading in the Content Area Cr: 3

Term 2: Spring - 3 hours

Note: EDUC 631 requires 25 field experience hours.

• EDUC 631 - Reading Assessment, Diagnosis, and Intervention Cr: 3

Term 3: Summer - 3 hours

Note: EDUC 632 requires 25 field experience hours.

• EDUC 632 - Practicum in Correction of Reading Difficulties Cr: 3

Notes

• No grade below C and not more than 3 credit hours of C work can be applied toward the certificate.
