Dual Degree Requirements
To apply for acceptance into the Computer Science, General Computer Science Concentration, BS/Mathematical Sciences, Computer Science Concentration, MS dual degree program, students must:
- Have an overall and degree GPA of 3.2 or higher; and
- Once 60 credit hours have been earned toward the bachelor’s degree, submit a complete dual degree application packet to the Department of Mathematical Sciences that includes the following:
- Dual degree program application form; and
- Two letters of recommendation from faculty in either the Department of Engineering and Computer Science or the Department of Mathematical Sciences.
Junior Spring - 14 hours
- CSCI Elective (300/400 Level) - 3 hours
Dual Degree Requirements
Once 90 credit hours have been earned toward the bachelor’s degree and upon acceptance into the dual degree program, a student:
- Can enroll in up to 12 graduate credit hours during the final 30 credit hours of the bachelor’s degree;
- Must graduate with the bachelor’s degree once all requirements for that degree are met;
- Is classified as an undergraduate student and is charged undergraduate tuition and fees until the bachelor’s degree is awarded;
- Is classified as a graduate student and is charged graduate tuition and fees after the bachelor’s degree is awarded;
- Can continue enrolling in graduate coursework provided an overall graduate GPA of 3.0 and overall undergraduate GPA of 3.2 are maintained; and
- Is not required to complete an application for admission to the master’s degree program provided enrollment after the awarding of the bachelor’s degree is continuous during fall and spring semesters.
Senior Spring - 15 hours
- Approved CSCI, MATH, or STAT Elective (500/600 Level) - 3 hours
- CSCI Elective (300/400 Level) - 3 hours (Except CSCI 321, CSCI 398, or CSCI 399)
Graduate Fall - 12 hours
- Approved CSCI, MATH, or STAT Elective (500/600 Level) - 3 hours
- CSCI Elective (500/600 Level) - 3 hours
Graduate Spring - 12 hours
- Approved CSCI, MATH, or STAT Elective (500/600 Level) - 3 hours
- CSCI Elective (500/600 Level) - 3 hours
Notes
Undergraduate Notes:
- All bachelor’s degrees must include 40 hours at the 300 level or higher.
- All bachelor’s degrees require the successful completion of at least nine hours of Natural Sciences General Education Core Curriculum courses. Six hours shall be earned in a single life or physical science; the remaining three hours must be earned in a natural science area other than that previously selected (both life and physical sciences must be taken to fulfill this requirement).

- All electives must be approved by an advisor.
- Students must earn a grade of C or better in all CSCI, MATH, and STAT courses.
Graduate Notes:
- At least one-half of the total number of credit hours required for a graduate degree must be at the 600 level.
- Credits applied must be earned within 6 calendar years from the time the student first enrolled in the program.
- No grade below C and not more than 6 credit hours of C work may be applied toward the degree.
- Only transfer credits with a grade of B or better may be applied toward the degree.
- The candidate is required to pass satisfactorily a comprehensive written examination and/or oral examination for the courses taken for graduate credit.
