EDUC 499 - Entrance into the Non-Master’s Alternative Program


Description
Candidates planning to earn their initial certification through a post-baccalaureate non-master’s program must register for EDUC 499. The portal course requires prior submission of the completed EDUC 499 packet for official admission into the post-baccalaureate certificate teacher education program, including submission of official passing Praxis content exam scores, completion of a mandated reporter training, an approved narrative, specific GPA requirements, and any additional items noted in the packet. 

Candidates are required to submit the EDUC 499 packet prior to the semester in which they intend to enroll in the portal course. Candidates will be assigned a grade of Satisfactory (S) once the packet is approved and the candidate has successfully registered for the portal course. A grade of Satisfactory in this portal course is required to enroll in any Portal II education, educational technology, or special education courses.

Candidates are required to complete all components of the packet prior to the semester in which they would like to enroll in EDUC 499. Refer to Teacher Education Preparation Portals page of the Academic Catalog for additional portal requirements.

Prerequisite(s): University acceptance into a post-baccalaureate teacher education program; minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 at time of baccalaureate degree conferral; submission of passing scores on Praxis content exam; and permission of department head. 
Prerequisite(s)/Corequisite(s): EDUC 110.
