Criminal Justice, MS

Program Admission


Applicants for admission to the Criminal Justice, MS program must meet general requirements for admission  to the William J. Doré, Sr. School of Graduate Studies. No GRE is required for admission to the Criminal Justice, MS program.

Electives


Students will complete twenty-one (21) additional semester hours of criminal justice electives, at least one of which must be at the 600 level. A total of nine (9) semester hours of graduate coursework in allied disciplines (i.e. sociology, psychology, criminology, etc.), as approved by the coordinator of criminal justice, may be applied to the twenty-one (21) semester hours of coursework required.

Independent research courses at the graduate level may be applied as required elective credits. Graduate level coursework in other relevant disciplines (i.e. sociology, psychology, criminology, etc.) may be accepted as transfer credit hours and applied toward the required elective credits where the course focus is relevant and appropriate as determined by the coordinator of criminal justice. A maximum of nine (9) credit hours may be accepted for transfer credit hours whether at the 500 and/or 600 level. Recommended 600-level elective courses include:

  • Credits applied must be earned within 6 calendar years from the time the student first enrolled in the program.
  • No grades below C and not more than 3 credit hours of C work can be applied toward the degree.
  • Only transfer credits with a grade of B or better may be applied toward the degree.
