Academically Gifted Education, PMC

Program Admission

In addition to the general requirements for admission to the William J. Doré, Sr. School of Graduate Studies, applicants for admission to the Academically Gifted Education, PMC program must:

• Provide evidence of a valid teaching certificate; and
• Possess a master’s degree from an institution accredited by a USDOE-approved institutional accreditor.

Term 1: Fall - 6 hours

Note: EDUC 686 requires 15 field experience hours, and EDUC 688 requires 20 field experience hours.

• EDUC 688 - Methods for Teaching the Academically Gifted Cr: 3

Term 2: Spring - 3 hours

Note: EDUC 687 requires 20 field experience hours.

• EDUC 687 - Social and Emotional Needs of the Gifted Cr: 3

Term 3: Summer - 3 hours

Note: EDUC 689 requires 15 field experience hours.

• EDUC 689 - Creative Thinking and Problem Solving Cr: 3

Term 4: Fall - 3 hours

Note: EDTC 602 requires 25 field experience hours.

• EDTC 602 - Design and Development of Multimedia for Instruction Cr: 3

Notes

• No grade below C and not more than 3 credit hours of C work can be applied toward the certificate.
