Total Hours Required for Degree: 120
A Bachelor of General Studies degree with a concentration in applied English and professional writing emphasizes evidence-based approaches. It imparts necessary skills in writing, designing, editing, researching, information management, and understanding diverse perspectives while encouraging students to develop broad-based content knowledge in particular fields. It strategically moves a student through a balanced curriculum of courses in English and the humanities so that students can make technical concepts understandable and make information useable. Students cannot pursue the BGS concurrently with another baccalaureate degree. Students who wish to pursue the BGS as a second degree will not be permitted to apply the major hours from the primary degree to the concentration area in the General Studies curriculum.
