Concentrations in Ceramics, Drawing, Graphic Design, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, and *Secondary Concentration in Art Education K-12

Notes


1Concentration in areas of Graphic Design, Ceramics, Drawing, Painting, Photography, and Printmaking shall consist of 18 hours of studio work in selected area. Art students must take courses in at least three areas of art outside their primary area of concentration.
2Three (3) hours must be selected from the approved Writing Enriched courses- see General Education Core Curriculum .
3Approved Electives must include 9 hours from Humanities, 9 hours from Natural Sciences, 6 hours from Social Sciences, and 3 hours from Fine Arts. Humanities: History, literature, religious studies, philosophy, speech communication, foreign language (above intro-level). At least 3 hours must be a sophomore level or above. Social Science: sociology, psychology, government, political science, anthropology, geography, economics. Natural Sciences: Course work must include biological and physical science, of which 6 hours must be in a two-semester sequence. Fine Arts: music, dance, theatre.

All Teacher Education Preparation requirements must be satisfied for completion of the secondary concentration in Art Education K-12. See your advisor for proper sequencing of course work. To complete the B.A. in Art with a secondary concentration in Art Education requires successful completion of 122 credit hours listed below. Students graduating with the secondary concentration in Art Education will receive the degree of: B.A. Art/Studio Concentration/Art Education K-12.

Science: Course work must include both biological and physical sciences of which 6 hours must be earned in a two semester sequence.

4Social Science Elective: To meet state teacher certification requirements, electives must be chosen from: ECON 102; GEOG 211; GOVT 201; SOCL 211
5Prerequisite: EDUC 200 with approval from advisor.
6Prerequisite: EDUC 200, passing scores on all PRAXIS licensure tests, approval of advisor, permission of department heads of Teacher Education and Visual Arts.
