Liberal Studies (B.A.)

All Liberal Studies majors must complete the degree requirements block (64 credit hours) and they must select a concentration block (56/59 credit hours) from the choices that follow. The Liberal Studies degree requires a minimum of 42 hours at the 300+ level.

Students must take 12 hours of writing-enriched courses from three (3) different disciplines (including ENGL 101-102), plus 12 hours of writing-enriched courses in History.

Notes


1Select three (3) Science electives from the General Education Core Curriculum  list. A two-semester sequence recommended.
2Students who select the Theatre Concentration block should take THEA 472 and 475 instead of the two HIST 300/400 electives.
3Recommend: Art History or Music Appreciation. Students who select the Theatre Concentration block must take ART or MUSC as their fine art electives.
4COMM 201 is not required for students who select the Theatre Concentration block; Core Courses block has 61 hours.
5Students who select the Theatre Concentration block should take ENGL 421 or 422 instead of ENGL 351 or 361.

Concentration in Geography

1Student may opt out of the foreign language sequence and select 12 hours of international studies from among the following courses: ART 361, 362, 363, 461; ENGL 401, 402, 404, 479; GEOG 311; GOVT 320, 403, 421, 422; HIST 331, 341, 342, 343, 344, 355, 356, 357, 362, 380, 381, 431, 432, 440, 450, 451, 452, 456, 457, 461, 462; RELS 211; SOCL 430.
